Links Golf Preparation
Parkland target golf doesn't work on the firm fescue of true links layouts. You must adapt your trajectory and short game.
Equipment Adjustments
| Parkland Setup | Links Setup | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| High-bounce wedges (10-14°) | Low-bounce wedges (4-8°) | Tight lies prevent sliding. |
| High-launch Hybrids | Driving Irons / 3-Irons | Boring flight under the wind. |
| High-spin Golf Ball | Lower-spin Golf Ball | Less ballooning into the breeze. |
Common Mistakes
- Flying Wedges to the Pin: Use the ground. Putt from 30 yards out. If you must chip, use a 7-iron bump and run.
- Fighting the Wind: Swing easy when it's breezy. A hard swing generates more spin, making the wind affect the ball more.
